Chrissie Botha

Chrissie is a qualified teacher with Math and Science as her focus subjects. Since a young age Chrissie has been captivated by nature and the world around her. She loves every aspect of Science, and found her calling in the combination of science and teaching. Chrissie often compares her learners to flowers, recognising that each learner needs different nutrients and support as they progress through life, in order for them to flourish. She lives for the moments when a learner’s face lights up, because in that moment she knows they have gained a piece of knowledge that is directing them one step closer to success.

When she is not teaching, she loves spending time in nature, singing, doing art, cooking, baking and cuddling up to her Schnauzer. Chrissie values inter-personal relationships and places a high priority on nurturing these relationships with her friends, family and learners.

Marna Bredenhand

Marna has a BEd in SNR and FET Phase with Mathematics and Engineering Graphic Design as her majors. She has experience teaching at different schools in the Boland and Overberg districts. She has tutored learners from as early as 2017 and believes that teachers, too, are lifelong learners.

She is a passionate tutor and believes all learners have the capacity to learn mathematics and understand it. Learners aren’t always aware of what they are capable of.

When Marna is not tutoring, she enjoys going on walks and hikes.

Meandri van Rheede van Oudtshoorn

Meandri completed her BSc Honours in Agrometeorology after doing a BSc Physics degree majoring in Agrometeorology. She loves science and believes that it is the glasses that enable us to see and appreciate the wonders of the world.

Meandri has many years’ experience in private tutoring of Mathematics and Sciences. More recently she also tutored first and second year students in Physics, Mathematics and Engineering subjects in the Department of Engineering Science at the University of the Free State, where she also assisted in lecturing the same.

Her love for science and mathematics was always a part of her, but it was only later on that she realised she had a passion for teaching. She fell in love with tutoring when she realised the difference it can make in a child when you believe in them. You are not simply someone’s tutor, it is so much more than that!

When she is not tutoring, she enjoys spending time outdoors, writing poems and playing the ukulele.

Lara Jonker

The fact that my favourite colour is yellow should tell you that I’m a lively person. I am energetic and ambitious and strive to always focus on the positive in any situation! There is always something to be thankful for! I knew I wanted to teach since I was 9 years old, and after completing my education degree in mathematics, I am ready to take on my favourite subject, maths! Maths is like life; it happens! It is something every human has to deal with, if you like it or not! So why don’t we just deal with it and figure it out, even if we don’t always like it?

I believe admitting your weakness doesn’t make you weak, but it makes you stronger. Students should not feel embarrassed but rather driven to figure out why they struggle with something. I am here to help them achieve that!

I love exercising, and I present fitness classes on the side and I am passionate about capturing God’s creation as I am a part-time photographer as well! I believe in balance, and that work and rest are both needed to achieve success!

Philip Gilbert

Hi, I am Philip Gilbert. I have a degree in Mathematics, and I have been teaching and tutoring for the past 4 years. One of my passions lies with both Mathematics and Physical Science as I do enjoy helping students achieve their true potential within the subject. It is always amazing to see students improve once they fully understand particular topics, theorems and all aspects of Physical Science.

I am a confident and friendly individual with a strong will to achieve, accompanied by a very forward-thinking philosophy. My teaching experience ensures that my knowledge pertaining to the curriculum and its content is well-versed and that I am fully prepared.

I am extremely excited to teach all of you!

Stephanie Schoeman

Stephanie is completing her PhD in Zoology at Stellenbosch University. She fell in love with science during the course of her undergraduate degree and hopes to share this passion with her students. She’s been tutoring math and science since 2015. Currently, she is tutoring the grade 12 students from Apex High School, hoping to inspire and encourage them to reach their full potential.

When she is not teaching, she can be found in the lab working or in the water swimming and exploring.

Anelda Else

I am 28 years old and grew up in a small town in the Overberg.  I have a great passion for Science and obtained a BSc degree from Stellenbosch University.

I always had the desire to help others and it brought me so much joy to make a difference in someone’s life, whether academically or emotionally. I realised there is no other career that would bring me this joy every day than teaching.

I completed my PGCE after obtaining my degree and have been teaching for 5 years.

Besides teaching, I have many hobbies that keep me busy in my free time. From cooking, baking to travelling and hiking. My motto in life is to find ways to step out of my comfort zone. Focus on excitement rather than fear.
